LOOKING BACK

What shaped our User Group in 2026

Rethinking publishing: AI and customer feedback

How can AI assistants work with structured publishing content? We discussed connectivity through the open MCP standard and the role of the SiteFusion Marketplace for extensions. Another focus was customer feedback on the idea of managing web links as content in their own right and integrating them into existing workflows. We also discussed topics for collaborative workshops on content structure and page planning, taking everyday publishing requirements as our starting point.

Structured content for AI and automated output

A guest presentation explored how DITA and GraphRAG can make structured content and its relationships usable for AI applications. With Miramo PDF, we also looked at an approach to automated PDF production and output template design. Other topics included the SiteFusion Marketplace and a customer request for centralised web link management. Participants were able to evaluate this idea and contribute to the direction of future product development.

Media and creative tools in the workflow

The session focused on practical improvements to assets and their use in production: selecting or uploading files directly within a task, linking related media and sharing selected content externally. We also demonstrated local editing of task assets with tools such as InDesign, InCopy and Photoshop. We then covered variant management and selection through CI Hub, supporting more connected workflows across editorial, design and production teams.

Custom templates and intelligent processes

Antenna House shared insights into high-quality automated publishing output. pagina demonstrated how custom InDesign templates can support different layout requirements. We also discussed ideas from CamundaCon on coordinating people, AI agents and systems in end-to-end processes. Another focus was making changes to content and licences traceable: how can relevant editing steps be made visible in their working context to help teams coordinate more easily?

Automation and editorial collaboration

A guest presentation from the publishing sector introduced automated online publishing using a specialist information service as an example. We then explored how content, tasks and responsibilities can be organised within a shared working context, for example for production approvals or updates to existing content. A closer look at Fonto Review showed its integration into editorial processes. Other topics included local file editing and automated advertisement placement in InDesign.

From manuscript to customer

A joint guest presentation by a publisher and an implementation partner showed how workflow-driven production supports the journey from manuscript to customer. The introduction to release 6.13 focused on tasks as a central space for work and communication: accessing content, keeping track of processing steps and collaborating directly within a task. Further insights covered visual page planning, handling variants and improvements to navigation and loading times in everyday work.

Connecting authors, editorial teams and production

pagina explored the benefits of an author portal for publishers and collaboration during content creation. Using a practical SiteFusion process, we followed the path from editing in Word through page planning and media requests to InDesign and proofing. The session also included insights into CI Hub and InCopy integration. We introduced the updated User Group format, with release insights, practical case studies and more room for professional exchange and customer ideas.

Managing data responsibly

A guest presentation by Projekt 29 addressed the deletion of personal data from a content management system. We also shared insights into quality assurance and improvements for everyday use of SiteFusion, as well as InDesign integration and page planning. Based on a specific customer request, we discussed how unused images could be identified more easily. Particular attention was given to accounting for both current content and completed publications when cleaning up media collections.
